Being a hypnotherapist is, in many ways, a business—but at its core, it begins with a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals. Interestingly, while helping others, we also build and develop ourselves. Every session leaves a subtle impact on the therapist as well.

In many cases, this work feels like a personal calling. I know that for me, this was definitely the reason I chose this path.

At the same time, the business side of hypnotherapy is quite dynamic. It includes all the elements of a larger company—just on a smaller scale. A hypnotherapist needs an office, accounting, marketing, and a strong presence on social media. You must be prepared to give public talks about hypnosis and manage many different activities as one person.

I have been actively involved in hypnotherapy for 22 years, and I am now gradually stepping away from therapeutic work and passing it on to my students. The time has come for a new generation. In recent years, I have focused on teaching hypnotherapy and, especially, its business aspects. Over time, I’ve gained extensive experience, which I now pass on to new therapists.

One of the biggest challenges I see is that many therapists struggle to run their practice as a business. Therapy is still a business—no matter how noble the work may be. There are taxes to pay, invoices to issue, and office space to rent. A “thank you” alone does not cover the bills.

Another important challenge in hypnotherapy is the lack of recurring clients, since most issues are typically resolved within 5–6 sessions. This makes continuous marketing and maintaining visibility absolutely essential.

One of the key areas I emphasize is marketing within the therapeutic world. Based on my observations, over 80% of therapists do not use email marketing at all. Therapeutic work is highly specialized—whether you are a chiropractor, massage therapist, or hypnotherapist. Most people want to learn more about a therapist before deciding to book a session, and email marketing is one of the most effective tools for building trust and connection.

Despite all of this, it is truly wonderful to create your own schedule and decide how many hours per day or week you want to work. You are your own boss.

Looking back at my beginnings, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every moment of my work in hypnotherapy has been a gift. I’ve met incredible people and shaped my life in a direction that truly suits me.
